Sacks, Oliver (Wolf)
(9 jul. 1933, Londres, Inglaterra).

Neurólogo y escritor británico radicado en EE.UU. En 1960 emigró a EE.UU. para estudiar neurología en la Universidad de California, y en 1965 se incorporó al cuerpo docente de la Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Escuela de medicina Albert Einstein) de Nueva York. Muchos de sus libros relatan historias de caso de personas con daño neurológico. Su empatía con quienes sufren de estados poco frecuentes, como el síndrome de Tourette, la amnesia y el autismo, ha sido el sello de sus escritos. Su libro Despertares (1973), acerca de los efectos a largo plazo de la enfermedad del sueño, se filmó en 1990; otros de sus libros son El hombre que confundió a su esposa con un sombrero (1986) y Un antropólogo en Marte (1995).
